Background
Louise trained as a solicitor with a small provincial practice in Coventry between 1993 and 1995. She qualified in September 1995 and specialised in residential property, wills, probate and general private client work. In 1998 she was approached by the Firm to head up their property and private client department but this soon developed into a new specialist area of law when the firm won the contract for the services of a leading local Housing Association. Since 1998, Louise has developed her skills in the area of affordable housing and has continued her involvement with residential conveyancing. In April 2003 she was promoted to Partner, the first female Partner to be appointed by the Firm since it was established.
Expertise
Louise acts for a number of registered social landlords across the country in the acquisition of development schemes, sales and purchases, shared ownership and large scale disposals. She is knowledgeable in housing policy and is experienced in the drafting of leases, transfers, section 106 agreements and residential development packages. She is also experienced in Right to Buy/Right to Acquire transactions, Leasehold Schemes for the Elderly and staircasing transactions. She has a good overall knowledge of Housing Association governance together with housing policy and the challenges facing registered social landlords from the public, private and regulated sectors.
Louise is currently in charge of both the Residential Conveyancing Department and the Housing Association Sales Department and works closely with the commercial side of the practice on multi-plot conveyancing and site acquisitions and plot sales for small building companies.
Personal
Louise enjoys looking after animals, having a menagerie of species at home and has an interest in fine wine, food and foreign travel.
