Background

Having joined Newsome Vaughan in 1978 as a Trainee Solicitor, Ian qualified in 1980 and became a Partner in 1984. Ian has always worked in the Non-Contentious area, having had responsibility for running the Residential Conveyancing Department and Private Client Departments for many years.

From its inception in 1995 he has managed the Re-Mortgage Department which deals with volume Re-Mortgage work for Lenders.

Ian had responsibility for attaining the Lexcel Standard for the Firm, which we continue to hold.

Expertise

From a professional point of view, he now deals almost exclusively with property work, combining a Commercial and Agricultural Caseload with some Residential Property instructions, particularly the more complex and higher value cases. He also continues to perform the role of “Traditional Family Solicitor” for many longstanding clients.

Personal

Ian attended King Henry VIII School in Coventry and went on to Magdalen College Oxford. He has lived in Warwickshire for all of his life.

Away from the office his time is largely taken up by his family. One of his current ambitions is to guide his two children successfully through their teenage years.

He is an avid sports fan, following the fortunes of Coventry City Football Club, Newcastle Falcons (away games only) and the English National Rugby and Cricket Teams. The recent form of all of these teams suggests Ian's support is something of a jinx.
