Background
Francisco is a native Spanish speaker and he has a Bachelor Degree in Spanish Law, from Madrid Complutense University, Spain, in 1998. He spent one year in England and the Netherlands to develop his language skills. Returning to Spain he started his legal career in 2000 working for Majadahonda Town Hall (Madrid Province) as legal advisor.
In 2001 he joined the international chain of hotels, Sol Melia, whose head office is located in Palma de Majorca. In 2003 he moved to Torrevieja, in Costa Blanca, and began work as a solicitor in the Gestoria Casablanca firm acting for British citizens purchasing properties in Spain. He joined Criado & Kraus solicitors in 2004 where he became the head of the office. During the last four years he has also acted as a Barrister in Spain.
During his first year working for the Firm, Francisco has qualified as a Solicitor in England and Wales through the Qualified Lawyer Transfer Tests.
Expertise
From his time in Gestoria Casablanca and in Criado & Kraus solicitors, Francisco has gained valuable experience in conveyancing (searches, deeds, Spanish mortgages) and probate (drawing and executing wills), acting particularly for British citizens wanting to move to Spain or acquire a second home. He also has extensive experience in administrative/town planning (or “urban law”) and compulsory purchases (or “land grabs”), and has acted as a fiscal representative assisting British citizens with Spanish taxes. He has also worked as a Spanish barrister in several litigation cases.
Personal
When he is not enjoying his Spanish siesta at the weekend, Francisco looks forward to trying new cultural activities. He loves travelling and, although his largest and most enjoyable trip has been to Japan, he feels passionate about English culture and history.
