Background
Following an LLB from the University of Exeter, Alan qualified as a solicitor in 1977 with Blyth Dutton in Holborn before joining Durrant Piesse (now Lovells) in the City of London. Here Alan worked on heavy litigation for commercial clients, plus employment work, doing frequent advocacy. After a short period in Winchester Alan came to Coventry in 1983 where he was a partner in another local firm before joining the Firm in 1990.
Alan has some 30 years' experience in the whole range of litigation, including property litigation, commercial disputes, company and chancery matters, landlord and tenant cases and injunctions, and a detailed knowledge of local lawyers, judges and experts.
Alan has been the Contentious Business representative on the Warwickshire Law Society for many years, liaising between local solicitors and the courts.
Expertise
Alan now concentrates on disputes that businesses and other organisations have with tenants, suppliers, customers and others, working with other members of the firm where appropriate to provide a speedy and effective solution to problems. This does not always involve court action, unless it is to the client's advantage. However, Alan is a very experienced advocate and litigator and is able to bring his skills and knowledge to a broad range of proceedings.
Alan also deals with the more substantial disputes that arise for private individuals or for trusts, and problems arising out of insolvency, and disputes inside companies and Partnerships.
Alan is involved in training and in keeping up to date with the frequent changes in law and procedure, both for the firm and for clients in the form of seminars and newsletters.
Personal
With one daughter at university and the other nearly there Alan is gradually finding some time of his own to pursue his interests in music, walking and the garden.
